Taxis and Minicabs
When possible, public transport should be the preferred way to travel around London and to/from airports as this is the quickest and cheapest way to travel.
Black taxis (or Black Cabs as they are also known) are metered, therefore fares depend on the distance covered (km/miles). Check indicative taxi fares and information.
Minicabs can be pre-booked in advance and can be a cheaper option compared to Black taxis, however, they will still be more expensive than public transport.
Note: Be sure to book a licensed minicab with a Transport for London license disc: unlicensed minicabs are illegal, unsafe and uninsured. Find a list of authorised minicab companies
