ESC TV is your trusted partner at congress time, offering expert analysis of newly presented data and guidelines. But what if you could have ESC TV all year round? Coming soon, to a device near you, is ESC TV Today – the ESC’s very own biweekly news programme.
ESC Communication Committee Chair, Professor Carlos Aguiar (Hospital Santa Cruz - Lisbon, Portugal) is very enthusiastic about the new project. “We realised there was a gap. We wanted to build on the success of the hugely popular ESC TV by offering expert insights to our members on a more regular basis,” he says. “Launching in September, on World Heart Day, ESC TV Today will be an informative yet entertaining talk show, delivering the latest news and analyses on key issues cardiology professionals face right now. In lively, varied, thought-provoking programmes, there will be expert contributions from a range of different specialties, with interviews and debates on current topics and insights into technological developments.”
Doctor Nicolle Kränkel (Charité University Hospital - Berlin, Germany), another key member of the ESC TV Today team, explains more about the concept: “In a similar way that the TV news summarise complex daily developments in international politics and keep us up to date with what’s happening, ESC TV Today will guide the audience through the latest advances in the vast fast-paced world of cardiology.” Dr. Kränkel knows it can be difficult to keep track of all the new evidence, particularly when it comes from areas outside one’s own direct expertise. “With important new findings, we need to weigh up and interpret the data as they appear, whatever branch of cardiology we are in, and we need to understand the implications for daily care,” she says. “And that’s where ESC TV Today is here to help.”
“The ESC is a large scientific community and has all the resources to bring the ‘current affairs’ of cardiology to life,” highlights ESC President Professor Stephan Achenbach (Friedrich Alexander University Erlangen Nuernberg - Erlangen, Germany). “For 20 minutes, twice a month, be prepared to be engaged and informed by true experts. And not only is the format highly attractive, you can also watch ESC TV Today wherever you are.”
