Travel to and around Florence

Florence is the capital of the Italian region of Tuscany, famous for its history & culture, and considered as the birthplace of the Renaissance.

By plane

From the airport to the city centre

The airport is located just outside the city:

  • By tram: direct connection from Florence airport to the city centre with the line T2 - Vespucci (20 minutes). The tramway represents a comfortable, affordable and ecologic way of connection. More information

  • By taxi: all drivers operate a flat fee of 30€ (daytime) to the city centre (20 minutes approximately outside rush hour). More information

You can also chose to arrive by train: Florence is well connected with Direct Freccia Rossa trains to the central station Santa Maria Novella

  • From Bologna: 37min, frequency twice an hour
  • From Milan: 1h45min, frequency every hour
  • From Milan Malpensa Airport: 2h40min
  • From Naples: 3h00min, up to 3 trains every hour
