The European Society of Cardiology (ESC) has been informed by Professor Karl-Heinz Kuck that he is withdrawing his candidacy for president-elect of the society. Professor Kuck has also announced his resignation from the board of the European Heart Rhythm Association, a large sub-specialty association of the ESC.
Professor Kuck’s decision follows an out-of-court settlement in Germany last week.
Professor Kuck decided to stand down in order to protect the reputation of the ESC. We wish to thank him for more than a decade of loyal service and his many contributions.
