Who we are

esc-council-basic-cardiovascular-science-top-banner.jpgThe Council on Basic Cardiovascular Science (CBCS) exists to raise the profile of basic science within the ESC. It brings together representatives from Working Groups and external subject-related European Societies. Younger scientists were supported by CBCS to create the Scientists of Tomorrow, one of the ESC’s Young Communities, who actively contribute to all the Council’s activities.

What we do

Role of the Council

  • To promote pure science disciplines via the ESC basic science programme of ESC Congress
  • To bridge the gap between basic science and clinical practice
  • To allow basic scientists to present their speciality at ESC Congress
  • To act as a Europe-wide forum for cardiovascular research societies and a conduit for positive collaboration
  • To share experiences with other ESC Associations and Councils
  • To establish links with sister societies
  • To improve the basic science programme of ESC Congress
