ESC Council on Basic Cardiovascular Science

Who we are

The Council on Basic Cardiovascular Science (CBCS) exists to raise the profile of basic science within the ESC. It brings together representatives from Working Groups and external subject-related European Societies. Younger scientists were supported by CBCS to create the Scientists of Tomorrow, one of the ESC’s Young Communities, who actively contribute to all the Council’s activities.

Role of the Council

To promote pure science disciplines via the ESC basic science programme of ESC Congress
To bridge the gap between basic science and clinical practice
To allow basic scientists to present their speciality at ESC Congress
To act as a Europe wide forum for cardiovascular research societies and a conduit for positive collaboration
To share experiences with other ESC Associations and Councils
To establish links with sister societies
To improve basic science programme of ESC Congress

The Frontiers in CardioVascular Biomedicine meetings are considered as one of the most relevant exchange platforms for basic and translational cardiovascular biology. Find out More

Basic Science Summer School 2023

The CBCS Summer School is organised every two years at the European Heart House (Nice-Sophia Antipolis, France) by the Council on Basic Cardiovascular Science with the contribution of the Scientists of Tomorrow.
